Biography
Professor Annemarie Hennessy AM is the co-leader of the Vascular Immunology Group with Professor Angela Makris. She is the Deputy Dean - Westmead for the Faulty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. Previously, she served as the Dean and Foundation Chair of Medicine at Western Sydney University from 2006 to 2023. She has 30 years of experience in preeclampsia research and is actively involved in clinical and laboratory research into the causes and treatments of high blood pressure during pregnancy. She directs PhD students at the Heart Research Institute (USYD), the University of Sydney and Western Sydney University.
Professor Hennessy is also the Director of PEARLS and the Australian Pregnancy Hypertension Foundation Ltd, a non-profit organisation established to raise funds to support ongoing research into the cause and treatment of preeclampsia in pregnancy.
